Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park
A tranquil oasis south of the hustle and bustle of the financial district, this glorified landfill has been a place of recreation for busy New Yorkers for many years. Named after Robert F. Wagner Jr., the mayor of New York from 1954 through 1965, this park contains beautiful lawns, intricate gardens, volleyball courts, wooded promenades and bucolic walkways. The park also contains a restaurant in one of the pavilions and a romantic roof-deck with extraordinary views of New York harbor.
After passing the volleyball courts on the Battery, I finally threw my hat in the ring and served.
