43 5th Avenue
This Parisian style elegant apartment building was constructed in 1903. The eleven-story building contains 43 apartments with high ceilings and a stunning lobby with Art Nouveau-style bas-reliefs on the walls. The opulent apartment building once housed a young Marlon Brando when he was still a struggling actor trying to make a name for himself on the Great White Way.
Before Marlon Brando hit the big-time and became one of the world’s greatest film stars, he survived as a struggling actor in Greenwich Village. Much hilarity ensued when Brando was paired in a small apartment with a quirky Russian violinist named Igor.
