Louis Philippe Apartments
This drab five story red brick building is called the Louis Philippe apartments. The building spans the addresses 312-320 West 23rd Street. The building is an ordinary, run of the mill, unattractive Chelsea structure. At its base is a branch of the famous Patsy’s Pizzeria. The building acquired relative fame as the location where Irish gangster hitman Vincent “Mad Dog” Coll was gunned down.
Mad Dog was one of the most cold-blooded killers in New York. Unfortunately, he crossed too many people and was whacked inside a drug store phone booth.
