Jane Wood's Way

A stretch of west 19th street named for longtime Chelsea activist Jane Wood, the scion of a wealthy St. Louis family who arrived in the great bustling metropolis of 1920s New York after graduating from Smith College--and stayed here, a labor leader and eminent activist, until her death in 2004.
