The Kitchen

Though it's established as experimental can get, the Kitchen is still among the best showcases for avant-garde performance and vanguard visual art, with compelling programs most nights of the week. Now led by a former Whitney curator, the space was founded in 1971 and registered as a non-profit two years later, and made its name as one of the first galleries to celebrate then-emerging fields of video and performance art.
