Pickle Eating Contest
Once a year, the Carnegie Deli plays host one of the most entertaining (and disgusting) contests in the world: The Pickle Eating Contest. In 2006, the crown went to Arnie “Chowhound” Chapman, who staggered out of the deli with the Golden Pickle Trophy after consuming a record three pounds of pickles. Steve Leibowitz, the owner of the United Pickle Company of the Bronx, staged the event. Next May, the Carnegie Deli will be a great place to go if you are interested in watching grown men and women attempt to eat five pounds of pickles in ten minutes. |
