Teany
Moby's so-hip-it's-square teashop -- or is it the other way around? -- Teany (pronounced "teeny") serves more than one hundred teas, each brewed tableside in individual teapots, light sandwiches and desert (all vegan-friendly, by demand of the omnipresent owner). The selection is startlingly large, the sub-sidewalk dining area startling small, which makes dining or drinking in the candlelit, lime-green connoisseurium a calm, communal experience for the spent passersby as much as the committed aficionado. The tea here is tremendous, the clientele an intriguing mixed-bag, worth examining even from the street.
I stopped by Teany one day for a quick snack, hoping to catch the owner: Moby. Apparently he sometimes waits tables there.
